FDLE stands for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the state agency responsible for processing Florida background checks required for licensing, employment, and regulatory purposes. If you’re applying for roles such as healthcare or nursing licenses, teaching or childcare positions, professional or occupational licenses, or other state-regulated certifications for the state of Florida, an FDLE background check is often required.
An FDLE background check typically involves Live Scan fingerprinting, submission to FDLE using a specific ORI number assigned by the requesting agency, and delivery of results directly to that agency. In most cases, applicants do not receive the results themselves, which can make the process confusing if you’re unfamiliar with how FDLE works.
At Four Points Fingerprinting, we handle the entire FDLE process from start to finish so you don’t have to navigate it on your own. Getting FDLE right the first time matters. Even small errors—such as using the wrong ORI, poor fingerprint quality, or mismatched information—can delay your application or require starting over. Think of it like sending certified mail: the details matter, and accuracy saves time and frustration.
We regularly assist Florida residents, out-of-state applicants applying to Florida agencies, and professionals working on tight timelines who need the process handled correctly and efficiently. If you’re unsure whether you need an FDLE background check or want help managing the process from start to finish, we’re happy to guide you and take it off your plate.
